What was requested. What WNA produced. What remains outstanding.
WNA responded on August 8 with a written response and a 54-file production. A record-by-record supplemental notice was sent August 9 identifying the remaining governance, meeting, authorization, electronic-communication and financial questions. WNA President John Wood then stated that WNA had produced all responsive records in its possession. The specific checklist items have not yet been resolved one by one.

The short version
WNA says it has produced all responsive records in its possession. The checklist still needs to be reconciled.
The August 8 production contains useful material, including selected communications, a president nomination form, 2025 year-end financial information, a tax filing and limited meeting minutes. Several basic governance and financial records requested on July 23 were not apparent in the files reviewed. After the August 9 supplemental checklist was sent, WNA President John Wood stated that WNA had provided “the responsive records that are in our possession and then some.”
The follow-up question is now narrow: for each specific outstanding category, was the record already produced, does no responsive record exist or is WNA withholding it on some stated basis? A second WNA response characterized the Association as “a voluntary club.” WNA's own bylaws identify it as Woodhaven Neighborhood Association, Inc., a Texas corporation with officers, a Steering Committee, monthly meetings, minutes and financial responsibilities. Voluntary membership does not resolve the corporate-record question.

July 23: acknowledgment
WNA President John Wood confirmed receipt and stated that responsive documents were being gathered.
August 8: response and production
WNA sent a written response and a ZIP archive containing 54 entries, including emails, PDFs and duplicate-format messages.
August 9: supplemental notice sent
After the production review, a narrowed follow-up was sent identifying specific missing or unclear categories and asking WNA to identify records already supplied, produce existing records, state when a record does not exist or identify the basis for withholding it. The letter also includes a record-by-record legal-basis table.
August 9, 3:34 PM: WNA response
WNA President John Wood stated: “We gave you the responsive records that are in our possession and then some.” The email did not map that statement to the individual checklist categories.
August 9, 3:41 PM: officer follow-up
Uyen Nguyen added that WNA is “a CLUB, a voluntary club” and suggested that a member dissatisfied with WNA should start another club.
August 9, 4:49 PM: member reply
The reply states that WNA's email will be understood to mean all responsive records currently in its possession have been produced and that WNA's response to the specific checklist items is still awaited.
What “voluntary” does—and does not—mean
WNA's own bylaws describe a corporation with a governing structure.
The word “voluntary” describes participation. It does not erase the organization WNA's bylaws create.
WNA's bylaws are titled “Bylaws of the Woodhaven Neighborhood Association, Inc. A Texas Corporation” and state that the Association is operated as a Texas corporation. They establish four officers, an Executive Committee and a broader Steering Committee that manages the Association's affairs.
The bylaws also call for monthly Steering Committee meetings, minutes, notices, Treasurer reports and Steering Committee authorization for contracts and payments. Those are the kinds of organizational functions the member records request seeks to document.
Being voluntary does not answer the records question.
Membership can be voluntary while the Association still has bylaws, officers, a governing body and corporate records. The question remains whether the records associated with those functions exist and whether the responsive records have been produced.

Documented use of WNA channels
The May 17 Sunset Social makes the financial-record question concrete.
The sources establish WNA involvement in the event. They do not establish who paid for it.
What the sources establish
- On May 8, the official WNA email account distributed an invitation headed “Econautics & Woodhaven Neighborhood Association.”
- The invitation said Woodhaven families were invited to “learn more about the mission of Econautics” at “the Econautics Site.”
- It advertised food, drinks and activities, welcomed contributions and volunteer assistance, and directed residents to John Wood, identified as WNA President, at an Econautics email address.
- On May 18, WNA's Facebook page thanked volunteers for attending and described the event as an opportunity to see what Econautics was doing with the land. The accompanying photograph shows event food being prepared.
What the sources do not establish
- Who paid for the food, beverages, equipment, supplies or other event expenses.
- Whether WNA made any payment, reimbursement or in-kind contribution beyond its documented communications and promotion.
- What WNA governing action, if any, authorized an expenditure or other Association resource use.
Those are the questions the August 9 supplemental notice asks WNA to answer from its corporate and financial records.
WNA's response
Residents can read the response in full.
WNA's August 8 email disputes the breadth and premise of the request, states that some requested materials are not WNA records, describes the President's disclosures regarding Econautics, and says the President's authority and relevant election results are reflected in the bylaws and responsive documents.
The response also contains personal commentary about the requesting member. Woodhaven Unites is not reproducing that commentary here or answering it point by point. The redacted response is published so residents can evaluate the correspondence for themselves.

This was a nonprofit-member records request, not an open-records request to government.
The distinction matters when evaluating the response.
Texas Business Organizations Code §22.351
The July 23 demand invokes the Texas nonprofit-corporation provision allowing a member, on written demand stating a proper purpose, to examine and copy corporate books and records relevant to that purpose at a reasonable time.
Texas Business Organizations Code §3.151
Texas filing entities are required to maintain specified books and records, including accounting records and minutes of members, governing authorities and governing-authority committees.
Reasonable limits still apply
A member-inspection right does not require WNA to create a record that never existed, disclose unrelated personal material or publish protected information without appropriate safeguards.
Why the follow-up is narrower
The remaining questions can be focused on basic corporate records: who governs WNA, what meetings and votes occurred, how positions were authorized and what underlying financial records exist.
