Woodhaven Unites is organizing a charitable and educational Foundation alongside a resident-led advocacy Action Fund. The entities are intended to share a public identity while maintaining separate governance, finances and legal responsibilities.
Woodhaven Unites Foundation, Inc. is designed for education, research, civic-information access, bilingual outreach, renter engagement, grants, leadership and charitable neighborhood programs.
The proposed Foundation is board-managed with a resident-majority Board. It will not have statutory voting members.
Woodhaven Unites Action Fund, Inc. is designed for free resident membership, elections, organizing, lobbying, petitions and issue advocacy.
This is where the resident-voting model and election safeguards are located.
The public brand may be shared, but bank accounts, books, grants and entity-specific activity are kept separate. Shared costs are allocated under a written agreement.
Membership and money
Membership is free and open now. No donation is required to join, participate or be heard. Resident status may be reasonably verified before voting or other resident-member privileges are activated.
Contribution links will remain inactive until the appropriate corporations, EINs, banking and financial controls are in place. When fundraising opens, the site will identify exactly which entity receives each contribution.
